Workforce Engagement Policy

1. introduction

Workforce engagement refers to the level of an individual’s commitment and connection to an organization. High levels of engagement promote workforce retention, foster loyalty, and improve organizational performance and value.

2. Open Communication

The Division recognizes Open communication is key to a successful team and strives to create an environment where a mutual exchange of information and ideas, transparency, and access to people and information is fostered.

3. Feedback

Team members are encouraged to give both favourable and constructive feedback, provided such feedback is delivered respectfully. Constructive feedback should be delivered privately where possible.

Feedback may be provided through staff meetings, conversations with team members, though the Division’s website, by email/instant message, by phone, or using the Performance Review Self-Assessment form.

4. Concerns

Concerns may be addressed through conversations with team members or by using the Division’s complaints procedures.

5. Job Postings and Promotion

Job Postings will be collected on the COBD website <cobd.ca/jobs> and notifications of new postings posted to the Division’s staff and board email lists. All team members are welcome to apply.

6. Disciplinary Action

Disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with Division and organizational policies, procedures, and bylaws, as well as any applicable laws, regulations, and bylaws.

7. Harassment

Harassment of any kind is not tolerated and will be dealt with in accordance with Division and organizational policies, procedures, and bylaws, as well as any applicable laws, regulations, and bylaws.

8. Review

This policy will be reviewed at least annually and updated as needed.
