The Pacific Training Centre for the Blind would like to thank the Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation for their generous donation of $8,000.
“We are very proud to support the Pacific Training Centre for the Blind with new learning equipment, including two Braille displays, a talking laptop, and other training tools”, says Jim Iker, Chair, Pacific Blue Cross Health Foundation Board. “The new equipment will continue to allow students at the Pacific Training Centre for the Blind to learn or improve their ability to read Braille, and ultimately, to increase their confidence and gain independence.”
“This equipment will be really helpful in teaching our students in the areas of technology, Braille and travel”, says Jessica Gladysz, Program and Student Affairs Coordinator at the Pacific Training Centre for the Blind. “Through the Blind People In Charge program, we strive to help our blind and Deafblind students become independent, and having the right tools to accomplish this is key. Thank you, Pacific Blue cross Health Foundation!”
Thanks to this donation, the Pacific Training Centre for the Blind has been able to acquire 2 40-cell Braille displays, a computer with a screenreader, 15 long white canes, and Braille reading material.
